Srinagar, Oct 08 (KNO): The Bharatiya Janata Party’s election committee will meet on Thursday to discuss the upcoming by-elections for the Nagrota and Budgam assembly segments, sources disclosed.
Sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the party’s election committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow to deliberate on probable candidates for the Budgam and Nagrota constituencies, which are set to go to polls on November 11.
The meeting will be attended by BJP state president Sat Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore, General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul, and other members of the committee.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh, and party’s national general secretary and in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, will also attend the meeting.
The committee is expected to discuss potential candidates for both seats and submit its recommendations to the party high command, which will finalize the names.
The BJP is likely to field Devyani Rana, daughter of Devinder Singh Rana, who won the Nagrota seat by a record margin of 30,472 votes. The seat became vacant following Rana’s demise.
As already reported, party leaders met the national general secretary (Organisation) in New Delhi and submitted a panel of seven candidates for the Rajya Sabha polls scheduled for November 24—(KNO)
